Corrections Policy

TradeWireUK.uk is committed to the highest standards of accuracy in our journalism. We recognise that errors can occur, particularly in the fast-moving environments of financial markets, company reporting, and economic data. When we are made aware of a significant mistake, we act promptly and transparently to correct it, ensuring our editorial record remains trustworthy. This policy outlines how we handle corrections.

Our Commitment

We will correct any material inaccuracy in our published content. This commitment applies to articles, market data, analysis, opinion pieces, and multimedia elements. We define a material error as any mistake that could mislead a reader on a matter of substance, including but not limited to:

  • Figures and data: Incorrect financial figures, share prices, exchange rates, percentages, or statistical data.
  • Company and market names: Misstated company names, ticker symbols, product names, or financial instruments.
  • Financial claims: Incorrect statements about corporate results, deals, acquisitions, dividends, or regulatory filings.
  • Factual misstatements: Errors in names, dates, job titles, quotations, or key events.

Minor issues such as spelling mistakes, typographical errors, or grammatical slips that do not affect the meaning of an article will be corrected silently.

How to Report an Error

If you believe an article contains a material error, please contact us by email at corrections@tradewireuk.uk. To help us investigate efficiently, please include:

  • The full URL (web address) of the article.
  • The specific error and where it appears in the text.
  • What you believe the correct information to be, and your source for this (if applicable).
  • Your name and contact details (optional but helpful for follow-up).

For general concerns about our content or editorial standards, you may also use the Complaints Procedure.

How We Handle Corrections

All correction requests are reviewed by our Standards & Fact-Checking Desk, led by Helen Travers, Standards & Fact-Checking Lead. The desk investigates the claim, consults the relevant editor or reporter, and verifies the correct information. For details on our team, please visit the Our Team page.

Material Errors

When a material error is confirmed, we will:

  • Update the article to include the correct information.
  • Add a clear correction note at the top of the article (or immediately below the headline) stating: “Correction: An earlier version of this article misstated [issue]. The article was updated on [date].”
  • Preserve the original text in our internal archive for transparency and audit purposes.
  • Update related metadata (e.g., summary, tags) if the error affects the article’s headline or description.

Updates and Clarifications

Where an article does not contain an error but requires additional context, new information, or a clarification to prevent misunderstanding, we will add an update note at the bottom of the article, typically labelled: “Update: [date]. This article has been updated to include [new information/context].” These are clearly distinguished from correction notes.

Minor Errors

Spelling, grammar, and typographical errors are fixed silently without a correction note.

Response Time

We aim to acknowledge receipt of your correction request within 5 working days. Complex cases, particularly those involving market data verification or multiple sources, may require additional time. We will keep you informed of the progress if you have provided contact details. In all cases, we will confirm whether the error has been upheld and, if so, the action taken.

Serious or Systemic Errors

If a correction involves a significant breach of our editorial standards, a pattern of errors, or a matter of legal concern, it will be escalated to the Editor-in-Chief, Edward Marsh. Such cases may also result in a broader review of our processes, and we may publish an editor’s note or a standalone correction notice on the home page if the error is deemed to have wide impact.

Transparency and Record

We maintain an internal log of all significant corrections. Our approach to fact-checking is detailed in our Fact-Checking Policy, and our overall Editorial Policy governs all published content. For specific concerns regarding our complaints handling, please see the Complaints Procedure.

Our goal is to earn and maintain your trust. If you see something that needs fixing, please tell us.
